Remarkably a day that one would think would not be the cause for celebration was turned into one by the D’ni. The First Day of Dancing marks the day that their old home was completely and utterly destroyed. Ever since their exodus the world was apparently on a destructive path, and after three and a half thousand years the world was not only uninhabitable, but completely destroyed. The D’ni turned the news into a celebration. They celebrated the Great King who taught them to seal that old world from their hearts, as well as the fact that they were able to exit that world and continue their lives on earth, instead of being destroyed with their former home. See more details • • •	18 D’ni Holiday: The Great Crash D’ni Holiday: The Great Crash September 18, 2025 On 18 September 2014 the primary matrix of the KI-device, known as “the Lattice”, suffered a major cascade failure, leading to a subsequent event known as the “Great Crash” of its virtual processing nodes. Unable to utilize the Nexus or rely upon the KI-coordinate system from the Great Zero, travel to and from the cavern became hazardous at best. Thankfully, through dedicated efforts of several Restoration Engineers, the Lattice was restored to functionality after weeks of dedicated work. There were severe data corruption issues, however. Both the KI-devices and Lattice were able to be restarted only at their “baseline” state, very similar to that which the DRC encountered when investigating the cavern during the first Restoration. It is unknown at this time if Victor Laxman was consulted during these repairs. Access to Nexus and various cavern locations may now be visited with relative safety, assuming normal precautions are taken during such explorations. The Guild of Writers was the first guild to be established when the D’ni arrived on Earth, and was considered a high priority. On Leevot 9, 8 DE, the Guild of Writers was officially established by Ri’neref during his rule as king, following the completion of its Guild Hall, which was celebrated with a huge feast and public ceremony. The Guild of Writers is one of the five Guilds that the DRC has encouraged and supported the restoration of. Their primary responsibility is the Writing of new Ages. They work very closely with the Guild of Maintainers to ensure that the Ages they create are stable and suitable to be visited by explorers. The DRC has stated in their information in Kirel that “in the future, we hope that the new Guild of Writers continues the tradition of making new Ages available. Though often considered the most elite of the Guilds, the Writers’ tasks were also considered the most arduous and intense. We assume that the new tasks will be just as intense. A painting of the Great King, painted by Fahlee (2840–3123), can be seen in the Ae’gura Museum. “Only the stone, while they pass beneath, listens to his cries and comforts her fear. Only the Arch welcomes the reign of the great one who guides us.” Those were the words of the prophecy written by Oorpah long before the D’ni came to Earth. As a result, the Arch of Kings – a duplicate of the Arch of Kings on Garternay – was completed in 625 DE. Every King thereafter began his reign by sailing under the massive structure, in hopes that he was the one. In 1323, during the initial stages of the Pento War, King Koreen and his family were forced to flee, attacked by the Pento. The rumors said that while they fled to the private island that held their only protected Linking Book, Koreen’s wife gave birth to their only child, a son named Ahlsendar, literally as they passed under the Arch. In later years, many of Ahlsendar’s followers claimed that his birth was the fulfillment of that ancient prophecy. In 1352, Ahlsendar would sail through the Arch again, this time on his way to reclaiming the government of D’ni and putting an end to the Pento War and the first major enemy of D’ni. It was for ending the war and beginning a new way of life that the D’ni called him Great. While there was also controversy during his reign, on this day – the day the D’ni chose to remember his coming to reclaim D’ni – we choose to remember why they called him the Great King.
